Scott V Maslin

Conservation Zoologist / Wildlife Consultant

Birds. Bikes. And Bugs. That pretty much sums up what goes on in my head when I'm not with my partner or children.

For more than thirty years I have rescued and rehabilitated a wide variety of animals, including exotic reptiles, insects and birds. The largest selection of these have been birds of prey and British wildlife.

I consider myself very fortunate to have lived in some of the most wildlife diverse places in the United Kingdom - born and raised in Dorset, studied in north Wales before heading to work in Yorkshire. I now live on the edge of the South Downs National Park, in East Sussex.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

When my full-time studies ended in 2002 I began creating and presenting environmental education projects for groups of all ages and abilities, learning different techniques and approaches for the Key Stages of educational development. Between May 2015 and April 2021, after thirteen years and a big move to an unfamiliar area, I stepped away from full-time conservation work and took a job at a baby and toddler swim school, continuing to offer wildlife rescue and consultancy services when not at the pool. Having completed years of market research and preparations, and with a diary filling up fast with school bookings, I had planned to leave in May 2020. But... in February 2020, COVID-19 hit and the world shut down. All bookings were cancelled.

Not one to give up easily, the fourteen months of lockdowns gave me the opportunity to update some of my presentations and lectures, and in 2024, I aim to re-enter schools with my revamped classroom-based activities, and have adapted many practical outdoor projects to include participants with varying disabilities.
